We just got off the ship this morning, and I must say, we were pleasantly
surprised by the whole NCL experience. The ship is brand new and beautiful --
sparkling clean. The crew is well-trained and we were told they were hand-picked
from the other ships to help launch this one. "Freestyle Cruising" turned out to
be a nice experience, and should be especially attractive for anyone who has
avoided cruising because they don't want to sit at a table full of strangers.
You can choose from any of 10 restaurants, and you can sit by yourself, or with
a group. The food was much better than we expected, even at the cafeteria style
general restaurant. We had heard that people had a hard time getting
reservations at the specialty restaurants. We went to the reservation desk as
soon as we boarded and made reservations for the entire cruise, and didn’t have
a problem at all.
We had a cabin with a balcony, but it was probably one of the smallest cabins we
have ever been in. For some strange reason, the only covering on the bed besides
the bedspread was a heavy down comforter. It was much too warm every night, even
with the air conditioning turned down to the lowest level. Ask for a light
blanket and sheet.
The entertainment was a mixed combination throughout the week. Do not miss the 2
production shows, they were 2 of the best shows we have seen at sea.
We enjoyed the horse back riding excursion in Puerto Rico. The horses were easy
to ride, and the trail through the rain forest area was pretty and had a lot of
shade. The only negative was the guides were not friendly at all, and were
careless running their own horses all over the place.
We also enjoyed the Castaway Girl snorkeling cruise. The crew was great and we
saw quite a bit.
We would highly recommend this ship, and would consider going on one of the
sister ships in the future.
