Having cruised to the Caribbean before on NCL's larger "Norway", I wasn't sure
what to expect on this smaller ship in the Atlantic waters. First off, I found
going out of Boston to be very easy and a interesting port to sale from. The
ship was plenty roomy, and in spite of Hurricane Kyle, the waters were rough
only on a couple of nights. I did spend a little more for a cabin in the very
front of the ship. Unfortunately, we were over a lounge that literally kept us
awake most nights. Also I would opt for a less expensive and even an inside
cabin as they looked to be even bigger than our own. The ship upon hearing our
complaints of noise, did offer us a alternative room, but we decided to stick it
out as we were quite settled in at that point. The dining was quite casual and
less formal which we enjoyed. The food was very good with very few exceptions.
They did present a cheese tray one night that looked as though they were on
their last rations. It was so bad, we kind of looked at each other and chuckled.
This however, was not the norm. Bermuda...what can I say about this beautiful
place. We all thought we'd died and gone to heaven. St. George is a quaint quiet
little port, wonderful place to dock. The weather was very warm and balmy. We
rented scooters which was a blast but I would not recommend this to anyone not
used to driving a motorbike of some sort. It is downright dangerous with the
winding roads ,and fast paced traffic. The city bus was an interesting way to
see the island.
Shopping in Hamilton is terrific. There are great deals on lots of British
goods, not allot of "junk" stores. The beaches are just breathtaking, with the
pink sand and gorgeous coves and ledges. We went horseback riding one afternoon
just before sunset. It was wonderful walking along the beaches, and worth the
money.
We really didn't do any guided tours. We had read allot on Bermuda prior to the
trip, and just explored on our own. All in all, I cant recommend this cruise
enough for all ages. I will be going again...soon I hope!
