The Majesty is an interesting ship, small, by
today's standards, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. She is equipped with
the latest in stabilizing and navigational equipment so the cruise, even in the
choppy North Atlantic is comfortable. However, I would recommend the patch for
those who don't want to risk illness.
The staterooms are on the small side, 145 sq. ft., but they are comfortable, and
the room service is excellent. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. There
are in room movies and popular tv shows for those morning or mid-afternoon
breaks while at sea when it's nice just to lie about and relax for an hour or
two. The bed is very comfortable. The bath is very small and the trick to the
shower is to not block the stall door with a towel. I did this, in hopes of
stemming the flow of water throughout the bath area and it only served to
maintain a pool of water. Just let it drain naturally and the water will be gone
shortly. The toilets plumbing is designed to work in a chain or shared as an old
telephone party line. So, if it doesn't flush the first time, just wait a moment
and give it another try, it will work.
The ship is very clean. The casino is on the small side but there are more than
enough games and I always found an open seat for poker.
I workout every day and I was disappointed in the small gym. Also, I enjoy
running, but you can't run on the Promenade deck until after 9 AM. This is when
I'm usually on my second cup of coffee. My suggestion for those who enjoy a
brisk workout, go to the gym early, and, to warm-up, you can speed walk around
the Promenade deck. Sort of a mall walk on the high seas.
The entertainment is of top Vegas quality. Go to the evening performances and
you will not be disappointed.
The Bingo and other games, Jeopardy, etc. are weak and not to my liking. Unless
you really need a leather bookmark (my prize for a correct answer), I would
steer clear of these diversions until they upgrage them.
The disco opens very late so, if you like to dance, take an afternoon nap so you
will have the energy for the midnight dancing, it's fun. There is also Karaoke
in the aft lounge earlier in the evening and that's always good for a laugh.
The food is great, with a fabulous selection that will satsify anyone. They even
have two gourmet brunches with exotic dishes.
The restaurants are very nice and the staff is friendly and the food, again, is
first rate.
No need to bring a suit, unless you feel like it. Just dress in decent cruise
wear and you can go anywhere to dine. I'm a silk cruise shirt and slacks kind of
guy, with deck shoes.
My advice, take your time, relax (afterall, it's supposed to be a vacation) and
explore the ship. I found a deck that was seldom used. It had it's own service
and plenty of deck chairs. It's an intimate escape area on an excellent ship.
