Itinerary: Bermuda
Just returned from taking the Majesty to Bermuda. After reading the previous 2
reviews I was a little confused. We arived at the termial at 12 noon, we were in
our room by 1:00 and eating lunch by 1:15. Luggage was at our room by 3:30ish. I
agree, the buffets on the ship are not great,(with the exception of the made to
order omelette station. Omelettes were awesome), but the buffets were edible and
good for a quick filler. We opted not to have our picture taken and even though
we had to wait in line it was only a matter of 5 minutes. (Remember you are one
of 1400 passengers). If you are looking for personal attention, go to a $400 a
night resort. If you do your homework folks you know to arrive at the terminal
no later than 12:00. Very few people and no lines. If you do a little more
homework you will know this ship is not like one of the new mega-liners out
there today. We also had a night of rough seas, (thank goodness I am not prone
to motion sickness), but if you are, make sure you take your medication BEFORE
you sail. Once your sickness sets in, you will pretty much have to wait for it
to take its course.
Anyway, we found the Majesty to be what we expected, large enough not to be
crowded and small enough to be able to find our way around. Our stateroom was
clean, but in need of updating (not that you will be spending your whole
vacation in your stateroom).Common areas well kept and clean, staff extremely
friendly, and the food in the main restaurants excellent. Bermuda is awesome. As
you approach Bermuda the water is a deep sapphire blue. Make sure you are on
deck as you DO NOT want to miss Majesty's entry into St. George's Harbor.
Beautiful! Get the $28 3-day transportation pass (unlimited use on both buses
and the ferry). Of course you can rent scooters @ $65 a day. Saw several
passengers come back with many cuts and scrapes. In Bermuda they drive on the
opposite side of the road that we do in the states, so be careful!! There were
400 children on our cruise and I must say did not notice there were that many.
Disembarkation in Boston was less organized, but I blame Massport for that and
not NCL. (we had some broken items in our suitcase and a damaged suitcase as
well but did not report it as we did not take the baggage protection). Again
Massport employees the problem. We literally watched them from our stateroom
window throwing luggage everywhere. Anyway, all in all we had a great vacation
and will probably do it again. Flying to Bermuda you can expect to pay an
average of $250-$350 per night just for a hotel room. For the average $1000 you
pay per person on Majesty (including govt taxes, port charges, gratuities, all
meals, average entertainment) this is the way to see Bermuda for a few days.
Remember, you are on vacation and should not let a few little glitches ruin your
time. Hey if you have a bad experience, you never do it again. Have a great time
everybody!!
