Left Boston in the rain, wind and cold. Having cruised on NCL 2 other times in
the past this ship was the smallest. Bottom line was for what this cruise cost
it was a good value. The dining room food was good - one sea days we did not eat
in the the 7 Seas Rest. because you could really feel the rocking and rolling in
there. Service was ok - it's very different going free style. The freedom of
going when, where and sitting with whoever is very nice but you give up the
familiarity you get with your waiter. We found some waiters to be "just doing
their job" and nothing else. They weren't overly friendly and seemed to just
want to get their job done. If there was one thing that really bugged me it was
the evening they advertised a "Martini clinic". Enjoying all the new martinis I
thought this might be a lesson on how to make various ones - or a tasting of
different ones. What it was - was really a disappointment. We sat down - the
waiter came over and asked what type of martini we wanted and when I asked about
the clinic he said it meant you were just to go in and order a drink. That was
lame. They should have taken the opportunity to teach people about different
martinis and could have used the time as a marketing tool to sell martini
shakers or introduce different liquors that they sell on board -- so if you see
in your cruise news a time for a martini clinic -- DON'T Bother unless of course
you just want a drink!!
Bermuda was very nice - very proper. The people were friendly and everyone
including the young children had such good manners. Always saying thank you etc.
Be sure to take a trip to Horseshoe Bay - the beach is lovely and the sand is
truly pink. Be sure to spend Wed. evenings in Hamilton since they have all types
of vendors in the streets and entertainment. It was a nice way to spend the
evening away from the ship. All in all for the price of this trip it was well
worth the cost. Would definitely go back - maybe trying to spend a few days in
Hamilton rather than all the time in St. George.
