When we booked the cruise I new the ship was older and small compared to the
mega ships. So I understood a little rust here and there. I was told the Majesty
being older does not have the stabilizer the new ships have, there was
noticeable roll a lot of the time.
The thing I was not prepared for was the poor quality and selection of food.
Many people we talked to complained about the food. The only other cruise I have
been on was Holland America to Alaska and it was great in all ways.
The buffet was very bad, bad food and bad service. people actually stacked dirty
dishes on other tables to get a place to sit. The Dining rooms the food was ok
at best. The service in the dining rooms was good. Le Bistro ($15 per person)
was good, we did not try this until the last night of the cruise. When we got to
Key West we went to Shulas's Steakhouse to get a good meal and it was fantastic.
The drink prices were high for poor drinks. John Watt at the coffee bar made
good drinks, but you shouldn't have to go to one bar on the ship and hope one
bartender is there to get a good drink.
Now for what was good. The reef snorkle and stingray city excursion in Grand
Cayman was great.
We had booked the dolphin swim in Cozumel before hurricane Wilma. The park on
Cozumel was wiped out. So they took us to a park on the mainland. A ferry picked
us up at the ship and returned us to the ship and we had a very good time. We
got to see Playa Del Carmen and we plan on going there for vacation next year.
Our cabin Steward was very good. I would not recommend NCL or the Majesty to
anyone.
