NCL Majesty Cruise Review
7 Day Western Caribbean
We are first time cruisers so I have nothing to compare against but we had a
great time! But let me go down the list of my feelings on this cruise.
The crew was fantastic and helpful in every regard the crew was pleasant and
should be complimented. We chose the NCL cruise line because of the Freestyle
dining experience and we sometimes ate at 5:30, sometimes we ate late 9 or 10
and all times our longest wait had to be no more than 5 minutes which was great
(note: this Cruise was sold out). The food was presentation was excellent and
ranged from good to excellent in taste, I would recommend the Four Seasons
restaurant of the two main dining rooms as this was a much more intimate dining
area. The buffet food ranged from just ok to excellent, so choose well. The 24
hour burgers and dogs on the top deck were good and if you got them right off
the grill were better (timing is everything). Milk, Regular coffee, juice, ice
tea and ice water are all included.
The social life on the cruise was excellent we met great people from all walks
of life and enjoyed everyone’s company. Let me say this if you don’t like to
socialize cruising might not be for you (unless you just love the Ocean air).
Let me also say we booked this cruise for a time schools were not out of session
because our kid is grown and we wanted to go at a time when more adults would be
on the ship(this was very smart! pay attention to when you cruise if that is
important to you! ). The disco was fun but wish it would open sooner the shows
we went to were fun and done well. We spent a lot of time at the Rendezvous bar
and had a great time socializing with great people and having a great time. The
bartenders were skilled at there craft (much better than many bartenders in the
states). Pina Colata’s were great and about $5.50 a piece beer $3.95 a piece
plus auto tip and actually the auto tip made it easier if you can believe that!
(we budgeted a good amount for our bar bill so we were not surprised).
We had a ocean view room on deck 7 and everything worked well and it served its
purpose (I personally would never get a bigger room on a cruise than that
because we were hardly in our room to enjoy it) the room was cleaned twice a day
and they did a excellent job (except when we forgot to take the do not disturb
sign off the door… oops).
The Sun deck was great, nice to enjoy some sun for once (we are from upstate NY
and solar power doesn’t work up here)
The excursion to Grand Cayman was a combo stingray/going to hell/turtle farm and
this was excellent our driver Philippe was just great and the turtle farm was
the best we both got to hold the turtles.
The excursion to Cozumel was a blast we shopped (I prefer the shopping there but
you have to haggle!!! or you will get taken) we also went on the catamaran
snorkel beach party and I have to say everyone had a great time and I highly
recommend this for the partiers among ya!
At Key West we did our own pub crawl and had a blast with other fellow
passengers who let us see the crazier parts of Key West.
The first night of the trip the seas were very rough as some storms were passing
through so that made for a rocky ride the first nite the rest of the trip the
seas were smooth and the ride was fine.
One negative, price of bottled water $4.50 and 1 liter (too big and expensive
for water)( I recommend bringing a 20 oz bottle with ya and drink the water in
the buffet and restaurants)
Do to our Dining habits we will probably cruise NCL again as we love the
freestyle concept and that was the biggest selling point for us.
The employees of NCL working during our cruise were absolutely wonderful.
Everyone was so helpful, caring and considerate the entire time.
I would highly recommend a cruise with NCL on this ship anytime.
