Norwegian Sea Cruise Review

Cruise Line: NCL
Ship: Norwegian Sea
Sailing Date: January 29th, 2005
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

We had a wonderful cruise on the Norwegian Sea. The transfer buses from airport to ship and return were comfortable and on time. Very organized and friendly staff. We went through security and registration before going to the ship with ease, everyone helpful and organized. We were met by a guide who took us to our stateroom. The stateroom was small but adequate. Lots of cupboards, drawers and storage space. The beds were narrow but comfortable. There is no safe in the room but at the reception desk they have safes and never had a problem when wanting to get items from the safe. A private room with locked door for your privacy and security. The bathroom was small and compact and there was little room to do much turning around in the shower but lots of hot water and good shower head, soap and shampoo dispenser. It was more than adequate and we are large people. The Norwegian Sea is an older, smaller ship then what we had previously been on but it was immaculately painted on the exterior and the decks were well maintained. The interior of the ship was clean and the carpets were bright and clean. We enjoyed the freestyle dining being able to eat on your own time schedule. Food was good and plentiful. Service staff were friendly and helpful. Ports of call were all great. We had good weather so tendering to the ports was not a problem. We were lucky! We went on a few shore excursions, a bit pricy but you had the assurance that the ship would not leave without you if you encountered any problems. There were plenty of cabs and private tour guides in port if you so desired at more reasonable prices. Our Disembarkment was very smooth and wonderful to be able to wait in your stateroom until your color was called. I would recommend this ship and NCL, they are a good company. The shows were fantastic - very talented people. The cruise director, Kevin had a wonderful personality and witty. He put everyone at ease and he was very approachable. He is an asset to NCL. There are a few negative reviews about this ship on this very site and I was apprehensive about taking this cruise after reading a particular one from Nadine. She must have had just plain bad luck because I do not agree with her review of this ship. If you are planning to take this cruise, don't be discouraged about the negativity on this site, we had a good time and am sure you will too. PS. We were very impressed on their hygiene policy, whereby everyone used a dispenser to clean their hands before entering food areas and the casino. Also, before entering the ship after each port-of-call.
