This was my first cruise and definitely will not be my last! At first, I was a
little hesitant about cruising with NCL because it wasn’t one of the more
popular cruise lines but after cruising with them, I can’t understand why! When
we first met our room keepers, we tipped them 20 dollars cash and told them to
take care of us; we were treated like royalty the entire time! They were
extremely friendly and helpful. My girlfriend and I were walking around about
half way through the trip and one of them saw us and called us by name to ask
how were doing and if we needed anything! The service was awesome!
We were completely free to wear absolutely whatever we wanted, wherever we
wanted, whenever we wanted. It was freestyle cruising at its best! The food was
unbelievable in every restaurant; especially in the Pasta Café and the Four
Seasons. Before you board the ship, you are given your own personal embarkation
card. This card is your key to the room as well as your ‘credit’ card.
Everything you buy on the ship is charged to this card, which I found very
helpful and easy.
There were Broadway-style shows, comedy shows, karaoke nights, disco nights,
magicians, as well as other forms of entertainment. Out by the pools and hot
tubs, a lady with a great voice sang songs you can just sit back by the pool and
chill to during the day or fall asleep to on the sundeck immediately above
(songs like Red Red Wine and This Magic Moment). There’s no way you can get
bored on this cruise!
The only thing I was disappointed with was the Internet Café. It costs $3.95 to
set up your internet account and then .75 cents for every minute. This is where
they got me. It seemed like everything I clicked on took 15-25 seconds to load,
so that took up some time. I ended up paying close to 20 bucks just to check and
write one email.
Cozumel was awesome. We did the Playa Mia Deluxe Beach Break. We took about a 15
minute bus ride to the beach. There was a huge open building with a
complementary buffet and complementary alcoholic drinks (no need to worry about
the ice in the drinks because the alcohol kills any bacteria in it, and believe
me, they were strong)! There were three trampolines on the water as well as a
rock climbing thing, which was pretty cool. Complementary kayaking and peddle
boats were great too!
Belize was very cool. We took about an hour bus ride to the Altun Ha Myan ruins
north of Belize City where we got to climb to the top of a temple and see above
the rain forest.
Roatan, Honduras was horrible. If you go to the beach here then you BETTER wear
LOTS of insect repellent!!! There is some kind of bug in the sand that bites
you... but you cannot see or feel the bug or its bite until a little while later
when there are dark red spots all over you. Bring some Benadryl because one pill
of that will make the bites go away pretty quickly (within a couple hours).
F.Y.I. we did the Fantasy Island Beach Break.
Cancun, Mexico was by far the best. We did the Jungle Speed Boat and Snorkel
Adventure, where we got into our own speed boat (about 10 feet long and maybe
4-5 feet wide, only seating 2 people) and followed our tour director through
what I guess was some kind of bay and through what they claimed to be a jungle
and then to a beautiful coastline. We were about 200-300 yards from the coast
when we tied the boats together and were given instructions on how to use the
snorkel gear then we got out of the boats into the water. We could still stand
up where we were at, by the way. We stayed by the boats the whole time while our
things were under the deck of the boat, which I was very hesitant to do because
I was worried they would be stolen but nothing was touched. This was definitely
an experience I will never forget!
Overall, I would definitely recommend Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sea to
anyone wanting a very affordable cruise and an extremely fun experience! In
fact, the day I got home (which was very depressing), I went online and looked
at other NCL cruises for next summer!
