Itinerary: Western Caribbean

We took the Norwegian Sea’s "Texaribbean" cruise to four Western Caribbean ports including Cozumel and Cancun, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and Belize City, Belize. This was my 2nd cruise and our first one on Norwegian Cruise Line. This was the first for my five lady friends who when on this cruise. We all thought the staff and crew on this ship was great, they were quiet helpful for the entire seven days of our cruise. Food and service in the dining rooms was wonderful. We counted five dining rooms We had a wonderful cruise and we had no major complaints. We found the "Norwegian Sea" to be first-rate and comparable to our earlier cruises.

Let me give a quick view at our trip to Texas and our wonderful cruise. We flew into Houston’s Intercontinental Airport on Friday evening from Phoenix, checked in to "The Comfort Inn" near the airport and avoided arriving on the same day and having to set in a crowded bus or van with people whining, coughing and sneezing while waiting for others to arrive. We had arranged for a private service to transport us to the ship on Saturday. Our cruise departure from Houston was a little wet. On Saturday clouds started moving in over Houston, by the time our driver dropped us off at the cruise terminal, it was really raining hard. But we didn’t melt, and the weather clear a little later.

We checked in on the ship about 2 pm and when to our lovely rooms with balconies and really enjoyed the view. Our rooms were at bit smaller than I had expected, but has a lot of storage space. Our room attendant was friendly and helpful and the same was true of most of the staff

The food was absolutely wonderful, of the restaurants I think my favorite was The Pasta Café. The restaurant, is decorated in burgundy and peach colors, and serves traditional Italian fare, it small with seating for about 50 guests.

We enjoyed spectacular Broadway-style show in the Stardust Lounge, the Cabaret Lounge, We checked out all the spot, even the Boomers Disco and the Monte Carlo Casino. I played the slots in the Monte Carlo Casino everyday. The six of us really enjoyed ourselves, we didn’t have a bad day from the time we left the Houston Airport to when we returned. This is truly a fun cruise, with lots of fun loving Texans on board to keep the party going. I think Texans are the friendliest people in the world "Ya’ll".

I should also mention that getting back and forth from the airports seems to be less stressful when you avoid the ship's shuttle. We found a shuttle service in Houston from reading reviews from other cruiser. We took the advice of other cruisers and called Houston Van Services. This service offers Houston Cruise Ship transfers from Houston airports and hotels to the cruise ships at the Ports of Houston and Galveston. I wish my husband and I had known of this service on first time we flew into Houston. We had pre-arranged for this service to pick us up at our hotel at 9:00 am, and he give us a tour of Houston before driving us to the Port of Houston to board our ship. Non of us had ever spent any time or seen this huge city before, its beautiful. There was no additional charge for the tour.

We had also arranged for this service to pick us up at the ship on our return to the Houston cruise ship terminal. We ask for priority check out off the ship, we were off the ship at 9:20 AM, and there was our driver ready and waiting to drive us the airport about 45 minutes away. We arrived at the airport at 10:15, in plenty of time for our flight back to Phoenix.

By the time we returned to the airport, we all felt we had known our driver for years.  He was a fellow name L. J. , he owns and operates this transfer and tour service. We learned about him from other review writers. We highly recommend L. J. for your Houston cruise ship transportation. He a must and you can reach him at 281 443 4430.

We wish to thank Norwegian Cruise Line and its staff for making six retired ladies happy for seven wonderful days. Also thanks to the friendly people at the Comfort Inn near Bush Airport in Houston. And a special thanks to a new found friend by the name L. J. Cormier who took good care of us while driving us around. And to America West Airline, who got us home safely.

I would recommend this ship and this itinerary to anyone who is thinking of a fun cruise vacation in the Western Caribbean.
