I was a little apprehensive after reading that Norwegian Cruise Lines was not rated as high as some of the others my wife and I had cruised with (Celebrity, Royal Caribbean). The apprehension was wasted. NCL met and exceeded our expectations.

We cruised from Houston on January 17th, 2004. Our room on Deck Four was small but adequate. I was glad that we were not on deck six or seven where some of the cabin views are obstructed by life boats. The shower was quite small but there was unlimited hot water with very good pressure. Air and heat in the cabin was perfect.

The ship is older but very nice.. Very classy. Ongoing renovation was taking place during our cruise. It didn't get in our way.

The staff is very professional and we have no complaints about the service. The food was excellent. We were both very impressed with the cruise director- Kevin. He and his staff were very successful in maintaining a constant availability of things to do, parties and games to become involved with. One would have to be seriously socially challenged to feel left out on the Norwegian Sea.

Freestyle cruising, for us, is the only way to go. The freedom to eat where, when and with whomever... made a huge difference from our previous two cruises. The waits to find a table for two were very short.

The captain and his staff were very good at communicating with the guests. We were held up in leaving Cozumel because of high winds. He kept us informed of the status. As most travelers know airlines and some other cruise lines are very poor at communicating this type of information.

A reggae band on the pool deck was excellent....as was "Gypsy Moon" who played in the Stardust Lounge. The entertainment in the main theater was perfect.

In spite of some poor weather, this was our favorite cruise. Next time I cruise I will first look at itinerary, then the price and then the cruise line. I hope it's Norwegian Cruise Lines. We had a great time and can recommend NCL and the Norwegian Sea to anyone.
