This cruise was the worst experience we've ever had on a cruise! Keep in mind,
my husband and I were traveling with our 3 teenagers. The activites were boring.
It seemed the same things were offered every day. It was spring break - and
there were quite a few young adults on the ship. They had very few activities
for this age group which really surprised us.
When we boarded, we arrived at our room to find broken dresser drawers. I
noticed a small screw on the floor and left it there. When we disembarked 7 days
later, it was still there. Do they not vacuum the rooms? I wondered! It sure
didn't appear that they did!
I did have to see the ship's DR while on board. The medical staff was excellent
and I am very thankful for that. I requested a heating pad and it took 24 hours
to get it. 24 hours for a heating pad??? I had to request it 3 times and finally
had the doctor call them and give them a chewing-out!
The days we got to go into port were disorganized. The crew stood around while
we single filed off the ship (all 1500 of us). It took way to long, even with
the new identity procedures (as a result of 9/11?). Customs was faster than
these people!
On prior vacations, we have cruised Carnival as well as Norwegian (Alaska). The
SEA was unbelievably dirty, the food was (and I'm being kind here) BLAH, and the
"newly rennovated" 20 year old ship was certainly lacking in many ways. There
was no tour of the ship offered for guests. There was no grand gala buffet (a
chocoholics buffet one night at midnight - quite honestly, we had had enough of
their desserts (not very impressive) and didn't go to this.
The entertainment was by far the worst I've ever encountered. It was a joke -
and I'm not talking about the comedian who was actually "sort-of" funny. The
dancers/singers may have had some talent, but the show certainly didn't impress
us - or anyone else we spoke with on the ship.
The price was a "bargain" and now I know better! It was comparable to most
Carnival cruises in price, and lacking in every other way!
We cruise about every 18 months. We will never choose to vacation with Norwegian
Cruise lines again because of this experience. One thing is for sure, Norwegian
Cruise lines has simply lost our business!
