After reading so many negative reviews, I was apprehensive about booking this weekend cruise, but the price was too good and we needed a "girlfriend's getaway". This was my eighth cruise and first NCL cruise. Overall, we ended up having a great time on this cruise. We found the staff to be friendly and polite, the food edible, but not awe-inspiring.

Okay, the food is not gourmet, but it was edible and there was a lot of it . We did book Le Bistro for one night and the food was fabulous. My friend is a real foodie, so she was quite impressed with the offerings at Le Bistro. The food was fab, but the service was lacking. The server did comment that she was new - it was obvious, but she was very polite. The first night we just ate the buffet which was a bit lacking in originality, but the fresh fruit and salad were abundant. The last night we ate in The Palace and the food was fine, servers were very polite and friendly.

We had small inside stateroom on Deck 8 by the atrium elevators. We were not in it much, but every time we came back there were fresh towels and the ice bucket was refilled. It reminded me of a Motel 6 - clean, but not inspiring.

We did do some of the activities - lost in the casino, lost at bingo, lost our cabin key......... The White Hot Party was fun, The Quest was hilarious, and karaoke in the lounge was a riot! We did take advantage of the 2 for 1 Mojito specials every night! Try the Razzberry Bacardi Mojitos - yummy!

We did not book any excursions.

THE GOOD - food was fine, ship was clean, staff was friendly and polite, mojitos were great!

THE BAD - the private island BBQ - hotdogs, hamburgers, corn, salad all served with a huge helping of flies - EWWW! There was plenty of fresh cut fruit, so we ate that. I am very happy to hear that NCL is upgrading their private island, because it is terrible. The water is beautiful, but the buildings, restrooms and walkways were rundown, beat up and dirty. It reminded me of a shanty-town. RCL and Disney's islands are FAR, FAR better. Let's hope the renovations improve this island "paradise".

THE UGLY- OK, WHAT is with the TACKY plastic plants all over the ship? Get rid of them, please! Spend the extra bucks and get some real ones NCL.
