We booked a cruise on Norwegian Sky and then I read this page of reviews. What are these people talking about? If you are looking for help in deciding whether or not to book on Norwegian Sky, let me help you decide. This was our first Norwegian Cruise Line trip -- always wanted to go on the flowered ship...shallow reason, but true. I'm not a real picky person, but my taste buds have not been dummied down by too much fast food, and I can tell the difference between junky and nice. Entertainment is usually a matter of opinion.

We were almost afraid to go to the buffet after reading some of the negative reviews. I was very pleased with the indoor and outdoor buffets. Great variety and everything I ate tasted great except the chilled avocado tomatillo soup. Some people might love it, but not me. I loved the chilled blueberry, strawberry, and other fruit soups. Even the chilled cucumber soup was good. There was a huge variety of things to make a salad out of. Yum!
Freestyle dining turned out to be a great idea. If you love to sit at a table of strangers and chit chat, you might miss that experience. We didn't miss it a bit. Service was excellent, food was some of the best we've had on a cruise ship. How'd they do those french fries? Most ships, they are not so good. There wasn't a down side to that experience for us. They offered several choices which changed daily along with standard items like steak, chicken, etc. that you could order instead. I got a steak one night along with the vegetarian choice for the evening. That steak was my least favorite meal, but tasty just the same.
We NEVER went away hungry, that's for sure.

We were upgraded to a bigger room than we paid for. It was an interior room on the seventh floor right next to the teen video room. We took along ear plugs which we ended up not needing. Our room must have had extra sound proofing or something. The children's care rooms were on our hall too. There again, no noise. However, there were very few children or teens on this particular cruise in late September. It could be different at other times of the year, like summer.

We are easy to please. We joined in trivia games and a few other activities. It was a lot of fun and we won quite a few ship items. They had a great little library on this ship, full of games and such. Most people probably wouldn't waste their time there, but we found it to be a relaxing alternative. ....And our main emphasis of our cruise was relaxation.

We've been there, done that, to quote a trite cliche. There was a tropical storm brewing in the Atlantic which forced us to miss the little island picnic and swim. Excursions were canceled in Nassau, but the captain managed to get us another day's stay. The next day was much better with lots of sun. So I suppose those people got to take their excursions after all. We used the day to explore little known areas and get some exercise. I personally did not hear anyone complaining about needing to stay in Nassau an extra day. The captain made it very clear that we were to write him personally if we had a complaint about his decision to keep us out of harm's way. He said later that he didn't get even one complaint about missing the island picnic stop.

Our trip was great. We wanted to sit back and relax for a few days, and that's just what we did. We would recommend Norwegian Sky to all our friends back home. And we'd love to get another ride on the flowered ship!
