Norwegian Spirit Cruise Review
Southern Caribbean
Bambi
The 10 day cruise out of New York was fantastic. Embarkation was easy. The wait
was only about 45 minutes in line. Everything was very organized. Once on board
we had about an hour until we could get into our room. We had a balcony and it
was worth the extra money. Our next cruise we are going to try an inside room to
compare how much we will or will not miss the balcony.
The Raffles buffet was fantastic. They had a large selection
of entrees such as prime rib, roast pork, turkey, ham, a choose your own and
made to order pasta bar, stir fry bar, fresh fruits, breads, salad bars to
die for. They aslo had dessert tables, bread selections, ice cream bar and
more.... We did not even bother going to one of the dining rooms until our 4th
night on the ship. The two major dining rooms, Windows and The Garden Room, are
beautifully decorated and the wait staff is professional and friendly. They
offer 5 course meals. The portions may look small when presented to you but by
the time you finish all the courses you are stuffed. You can order more than the
five courses also. Triple entrees are no problem. They are more than happy to
bring you extra. Our favorite server was Eileen. I cannot comment on the
specialty restaurants. There didn't seem to be any reason to make reservations
and pay the extra charges to eat there when there was such a selection to choose
from at the included ones. The Blue Lagoon (near the casino) has great food too.
I feel in love with the rice. We ended up eating that as a snack every night. No
charge at the Blue Lagoon.
If you want formal photo's taken, you will have the opportunity almost every
night. They have beautiful backgrounds that they set up each night. The quality
of the finished product rivals the professionals. The are a bit pricey. Most of
the 8 x 10's are about $25.00 but if you plan on it ahead of time, it is worth
the price for some great shots. They also take pictures at every port and all
day and all night. You never know when there is a camera pointed your way. It is
fun going to the gallery and trying to find yourself among the hundreds of other
pictures.
The pool is beautiful but it is very salty. There are 4 hot tubs located around
it.
I did not use the spa services but friends of ours did and they are great. You
can get hair cuts, color, styles, pedicures, manicures, wraps, massages, teeth
whitening... you name it, they do it.
The shows were really good. The performers put their hearts into everything they
do. We saw comedians and magicians that were amazing.
The rooms were well taken care of. The only problem we had (and it was a small
problem) was in the bathroom at the bottom of the door. There was a spot rusted
out on the inside of the door. It did not bother us but some people might get
picky. The tiled showers were clean and nice.
We did some planned shore excursions and we also did some tours on our own. We
enjoyed it both ways. There are so many excursions you can do it can get
confusing. The staff at the excursion desk was really helpful. Be patient and
wait in line if you have questions. If you don't want to wait in line, they have
a kiosk right next to the desk where you can book them on your own.
I will definitely sail with NCL again and again. There is never a dull moment.
If you want activity all day it is there. If you want to do nothing but rest
then there are plenty of places to do that too.
Enjoy your cruise and maybe we will see you there !!!!
