Itinerary: Southern Caribbean
We were a little hesitant to try this cruise not knowing what to expect of
freestyle dining. However, we liked the itinerary so we went ahead. We are glad
we did, and will explain why.
First, lets clear one thing up, EVERYONE on the staff from cabin stewards to
busboys, were exceptionally friendly and kind. They all went out of their way to
make our cruise a delight. Every waiter was wonderful, and if you dine in the
alternative restaurants (which we did 6 times) the staff is as attentive as any
5 star restaurant you will ever go to. (Especially Jennifer and Shu at Shogun,
went three times there) There were some common meals in the main dining room,
however most were of fine quality. We totally loved freestyle dining, because
you go to dinner when and where you want to. Yes, if you want a table for two in
the main dining room, you may have to wait 10-15 minutes, however, no other
cruise line offers tables for two! so those who complain about a wait, how long
would you wait on another line. We wanted to be alone most evenings since we
really were away for a romantic getaway, noy a meet people week. However if you
want to sit with others and meet new people, you will have no wait.
The ship itself is very nice, not exceptionally spacious, but certainly
gracious. The public areas are sufficient, and there are many cozy spots to
relax. The entertainment was good, not great (which is our experience on all
cruise ships, if they were great they would be in Broadway), however the
musicians that play at the clubs, lounges etc. were excellent. There is enough
variety to please all ages.
Cabins are a bit small, however the bathroom is the largest I have ever had.
Your towels will be fresh every time you leave your cabin!
I am not going to over scrutinize every detail, as if I (like some reviews I
read) are dissecting something piece by piece. I will tell you that everyone I
met on the cruise were having a great time, and I would personally take the same
cruise again.
Was Grenada not the best port? Yes, it is hard hit and run down, but maybe we
need to see things like these from time to time. However all the other ports
were absolutely beautiful!
If you get to horseback ride on St. Lucia (Belle Cheval) you will have the
experience of a lifetime. The views will be remembered forever. Book online
early, there are only 16 horses.
Summing it up, if you are considering this cruise, book it. It's value is well
worth it. If you are a fuss pot (as some apparently are from thier over negative
reviews) book Princess and be with the rest of the fuss pots.
