NCL Sun Cruise Review
Eastern Caribbean

My wife and I have been on 3 cruises. The first 2 were with Holland America. We
enjoyed both of these cruises very much. Our last cruise, with Norwegian, was a
big mistake. The staff was so busy continuously pushing expensive drinks that
they couldn't find the time to clean tables filled with dirty dishes, and over
flowing ashtrays. Our room was satisfactory and was kept clean. We had 3 ports
of call. St Thomas was the only one that we really enjoyed. The other 2 were big
disappointments. Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, had very poor shopping
and was run down and dirty. A raw sewage smell permitted the town. The locals
seemed unfriendly. Samana, in the Dominican Republic, had no shopping to speak
of. The waters of its harbor had garbage floating in it. Samana was very dirty
and in serious disrepair. Tortola, and Samana, are 2 ports that we will not
re-visit. The food on the Sun was mediocre at best. It was usually served luke
warm, and tasteless. One needed to add lots of salt, and pepper, to give the
food any taste. We found the entertainment to be less than professional.
Although they were usually enjoyable, the productions were lacking. We chose the
Sun because of its price. This is not a mistake that we will make on future
sailings. If this had been our 1st cruise, we probably would never have cruised
again. We plan on staying with Holland America for future sailings, where we
know that great food, entertainment, and service will greet us as we come
aboard.
