Just want to say, "We love the freestyle cruising"! From the beginning, I will agree with others that the embarkation process seemed a little disorganized. It took a VERY long time just to reach the porters to unload and then park our car. The check in went fine for us. We found our cabin without any delay, and our room steward was very helpful and pleasant. Our cabin was always clean and restocked with ice when we expected it. NCL does not provide the "little freebies" like Carnival usually provides. For example, we didn't have robes to use in our room or the few sample-size goodies Carnival puts in the bathroom...razor, advil, lotion etc. We had a basic inside room on deck 8, and it was room-y with lots of closet space. Yes, we did notice a few stains on the bedding, but you could tell it had been laundered and was a food stain that just wouldn't come out.

One problem: We were promised $100.00 on board credit when we booked our cruise (Cruise.com), but when we asked at guest services we were only given $75. Just a little advice- PRINT YOUR RECEIPTS and bring them with you. If we had done this I think they would have given us the full amount.

We thought the food in the dining room was just as good as other cruise lines. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a table for 2 every day ! That's something other cruise lines should start doing ASAP. It is so nice to not have to sit with eight other people, elbow to elbow for a 2 hour dinner. We did not do any of the specialty restaurants, although the Indian food lunch buffet was fantastic...$15.00 each, and totally yummy- if you like exotic food. We checked out the lido buffet several times too. Great for grabbing a soft pretzel stick or a crepe or some fruit. The desserts there are not so great, so stick with the crepes or the ice cream shop (free)! Can't forget to mention the late night CHOCOLATE buffet...gets crowded, but be patient it's really good.

On the days at sea we played bingo once or twice, but BEWARE the crew really speeds through the bingo numbers and if you have a multi card package it's extremely hard to keep up. We won't play again because it seemed unfair. The rule is: if they've moved on to the next number before you catch the bingo you're out of luck. Also tried the Martini tasting, and it was worth the price for the buzz...Whew. We might be light-weights though, so don't expect to get hammered, but it was fun.

This was our first December cruise, and the weather was chilly and windy, so No comments about the pool or any other water fun. You never really know what the weather will do, so if you are expecting a tropical vacation DON'T go in December or January. We tried to book the Glass Bottom Boat thing (twice) and both times it was cancelled because the water was so rough. We liked the Black beard's Castle and Rum Factory tour in St. Thomas. Do Not book snorkeling in December if the weather has been cold unless you have your own wetsuit! We heard the Beach excursions were great for those who just want to "sun" and not swim much, but use your judgement and CHECK WEATHER FIRST before you book anything. NCL will not refund excursions without 24 hour notice (even if you just booked something at the last minute).
