Some of the previous reviews had left us a bit leary of taking the Sun, but our
choice was based on the ports of call. Because of it being an older ship we were
expecting some "worn-out" appearance but were quite pleased to say that it
appeared "brand-new". The only place that we noticed wear was the air venting on
the deck showed some rust around the screws. And what did we care about that.
The accommodations were larger than we had expected, though still tight they
were sufficient. Far enough space for storage and the washroom facilities were
great. Hot water at all times of the day, even the busy hours of the morning.
Our ice bucket was full twice daily and the bed tended to. Comfortable sleeping
and I loved the "rocking" effect since we all like to be rocked to sleep.
The food was the absolute best. We don't even eat that well when we are fine
dining at home. There were several choices of restaurants to choose from, though
some of the specialty fares had a cover charge it was very reasonable. We
enjoyed the steak house and the japanese . The only complaint I would slightly
mention was the internet service and the lack of explanation with regards to the
cost outlay. Be assured that paying by the minute is NOT WORTH IT. Buy a package
and there is also a minimal hook up fee which surprised me. But the satellite
service was far better than the one I receive at home. We met the captain twice
and the onboard activities were great. The tendering process was a bit
frustrating if you were not signed on an excursion through the Sun itself. We
had booked private tours and had to wait until last to disembark. Even if we
lined up two hours prior. So if you want off quickly, book with the SUN.
All in all we enjoyed the entire cruise. The staff was more than friendly and
helpful with whatever we required. And the entertainment was as fine as broadway.
So enjoy your trip. WE DID!
