Number of Cruises: First Cruise
Cruise Line: Norwegian
Ship: Norwegian Wind
Sailing Date: May 6th, 2002
Itinerary: Alaska/Glacier Bay/Inside Passage
We were a bit hesitant about cruising with NCL based on some of the reviews we read about the Norwegian Wind before booking, but we decided to make up our opinions and are we ever glad we did. I'm not sure if the people who wrote bad reviews on the Norwegian Wind were on the same ship.
Freestyle cruising is wonderful! This was an absolutely fantastic cruise. We cruised from Vancouver, BC to Alaska-- SPECTACULAR scenery!
SHIP: Some reviewers stated that the ship was not very nice and that it was dirty. We did not find this at all except for some stains on the carpet but that is to be expected on a 10 year old ship.
CABIN: The cabin we were in was excellent (outside cabin on Atlantic deck) with a large picture window. It was very spacious with a queen size bed and a separate sitting area that can be curtained off from the sleeping area.
FOOD: Some reviews stated the food was horrible. We found it to be outstanding in every aspect and in each restaurant we ate at, especially at Le Bistro--well worth the $10 cover charge! Not once in any of the restaurants did we feel rushed to eat, either.
CREW: The entire crew were extremely friendly and helpful and always had a smile on their face. The room stewards/stewardess were exceptional in keeping the room clean and were very rarely seen but always did an exceptional job!
OVERALL: The only complaint we had was the temperature on the entire ship did not seem to be controlled properly. In the sports bar buffet it was really too hot and on the second to last day in the casino it was so hot it nearly took your breath away. Other than that very minor complaint, I give the Norwegian Wind a Five Star rating!
