There was a group of 8 of us and we all felt the same about this particular cruise. The itinery was great and we were lucky in that the weather was wonderful. Only Juneau has some rain, but it was not cold. We did not see any Moose or bear, but did see dolphins, bald eagles, salmon spawning, whales and glaciers. The cruise ship and staff were okay, not great. Our concierge was new to the ship and the job so was not as responsive as we had expected. Our room steward seemed very unhappy in his job and mentioned since Star took over it has gone downhill for the crew and staff. The waiters were attentive but not real friendly and didn't go out of their way. The dealers in the Casino were not real friendly and did not appear to really enjoy what they were doing. The Cruise Director and his staff were wonderful. They were very upbeat and seemed to enjoy their job and made the activities fun. The food was average, not great. The best meal we had was in LeBistro which is an alternative restaurant that costs a little extra, but was well worth it. The Sports Grill where there was buffet style food is small and was always crowded and the food only okay. My husband was sick one night with severe cramps and vomiting which we believe was due to food poisoning and when we asked the concierge to check into if anyone else had the same problem, he said he would and let us know, but he never did. All this did not dampen our spirits or the great time we had as a group. We all had been on a Carnival Cruise ship two years earlier and quickly decided that we would go back to Carnival for our next cruise. Some of our other people had similar problems.
