This was our first experience at cruising. My wife and I had planned this trip 8
months ago with a group of friends from Ohio and Indiana. I must say that after
reading a lot of trip reports I was very concerned about the quality of this
ship.
I could not have been more wrong! We had a great time. Our cabin was on the 10th
deck and was very comfortable with a great shower. Had heard about the 10th deck
being a problem because you can not always pass through the stardust lounge to
get to the casino or the lounges. This was not really a problem as you just
needed to take the stairs or an extra elevator ride-they were very fast and did
not require a long wait to get on. As for taking the stairs up or down one
flight, this was some welcome exercise after dinner.
The food was better than we expected---spend the extra money one night and eat
at le bistro, fantastic filet and lobster, and deserts. The service was
excellent at all times and the kids that work on the ship were very nice and
interesting. Be kind as they work very hard to serve you!
The only really negative I think I had was the Pizza Buffet at the pool, but
this was not really a problem as there are many other choices to choose from.
The stops in grand Cayman and Cozumel were great --good beaches and good
shopping, Roatan was very beautiful but very poor as this is a newer stop by the
cruise lines. We took a cab to the other side of the island to a beach called
west end or west bay. The cab ride was $40.00 dollars round trip and had a
wonderful tour of the island and a great 3 hours at a beautiful beach. Again
beware this is a third world area but the people see the value of having the
cruise ships and are working very hard to improve their quality of life. Again
you will see living conditions that you may have never seen but look at this
stop as an education and enjoy the beauty of the island!
We really did not spend much time in Belize but I understand this is a very
beautiful area--somes friends did the cave tubing and said it was fantastic.
also be sure to snorkel and swim with the sting-rays in grand Cayman. my wife
was afraid at first but once she got in she really enjoyed the sting rays. You
are in 4-5 feet of water on a sand bar and the water is very clean and clear.
To sum up the trip we would go again next week if we could. If you go just enjoy
the experience and don't expect every thing to be perfect. We did not get to
excited about waiting 10 minutes for our table or waiting to tender to an
island. Just have fun and enjoy meeting new friends.
