Norwegian Wind Cruise Review

Cruise Line: NCL
Ship: Wind
Sailing Date: November 24th, 2004
Itinerary: Hawaii & Fanning Island

This was our 2nd. trip on the Wind in 2 years and the reviews scared me. We cruised 10 days, 11/14/04 to 12/0404 and love NCL's Wind. The food and service was far better than 2 years ago. The friendly and pleasant demeanor of the 2 Main, DR , ,staffers was above and beyond what we have come to expect. The chef on the Wind does an exceptional job. It is just like dining in fine restaurants every night and day. Our stateroom had a large picture window and sofa and table and chair in front of it. A very well laid out stateroom. Most other lines have the beds in front of the windows, which doesn't make sense to me.

We have taken at least 30 or more cruises on different cruise lines , including Crystal and we have nothing but praise for NCL's Wind. She was very seaworthy in rough and stormy seas the 10 days aboard. She held those high seas just fine. The only complaint I have with NCL are the Tours. They are way over priced and just not up to the standards of the other lines. They are a waste of money and can be obtained on land, on your own, for a fraction of the price and much better in execution. Do not hesitate to do tours when you get off the ship in port.

We had one of the worst tours with NCL in Hilo, "Waves and Waterfalls," that started late in a broken down ,filthy dirty ,old ,van, that had a broken foot rest, which I cut my foot on. My husband had to sit in the back of the Van in order to give me his seat, with an unbroken foot rest. They raced us around, speedily and gave us less time than we would have liked, because they started late. It was just an all around badly done tour. When I complained to the on board Tour Manager, he would not refund the $115.58 and handed us a business card and said to write the Corp. Ctr. Shame on you, NCL. We could tell you were overbooked and dug up a second rate dirty old Van and sent the 12 or more of us off, willy nilly. This was the worst of the Tours I have ever experienced on your line or any line. At best, NCL Tours are very inadequate and unsatisfactory in comparison to the other lines we have sailed. Take the cruise folks, but not the Tours. Save your money.
