My girlfriend and I (both over 30yrs old) went on the Pearl that sailed Jan 4th. We both read a lot of reviews about all the cruise companies and decied with NCL b/c of the free style way. It was a great experience and cant wait to do it again. Every part of the ship was a great experience. The nicer restaurants charge you, but you get better service and it shows. After reading some of these peoples' complaints it seems that alot of these people are the kind that try and find things to complain about. The kind that go to a resturant and complain to try and get a discount or SOMETHING. I actually can't beleive I am writing this email b/c its not what I do but, I felt I needed to give some credit when it was deserved. The crew on the Pearl JAN 09 was great. THANK YOU!! The only advice I can give anyone, to make their time better, is to book a lesser quality room b/c u don't need a crazy room unless u have money. The other is to get a taxi (it's safe all good people) at every port and have them take u to the excursions that u want to do. We did ziplines in Roatan with "Pirates of the Caribbean Zip Lines" AWESOME and $80 cheaper than cruise booking. The taxi in Roatan cost me $40 to have him wait on me all day and drive me everywhere. In Belize, look up Reggies cave tubing, again half price and he was a great person. Cozumel was like being in south FL every one spoke Spanish and English and it was commercialized. The only boring part was going to the Bahamas which NCL owns. I can't wait to cruise again. The food everywhere was above what I expected. CAGNEYS=GREAT. There was food everywhere on the boat. We booked a mini suite with the balcony and all the other stuff. For a hundred bucks, more or less, we could have just booked the balcony room. The balcony was awesome to have. We went to a few shows, the comic was funny, but we are not into the sing and dance shows. Don't do the boat excursions!!! Do your research for every port and book separately. We enjoyed having or driver take us to the non-NCL places where there weren't 60+ people from our ship. We loved it, cant wait to d it again... Maybe Alaska in June?
