Why do something well when mediocre will do. The cruise was good but I don't expect to be back with NCL again. I'll rather pay more for another company

Food was nothing to get excited about.

Room was clean and well kept.

Be selective on the entertainment.

Much of the entertainment is NOT family friendly as they claim it is. I see nothing appropriate about lap dancing in the theatre yet that is one of the many bits of "entertainment" I endured before walking out of the evening shows that were promoted as being suitable for all ages.

On the other hand, there was some that was really good. I sat through more junk than I wanted to in hopes of getting more good stuff but was sorely disappointed.

The Original Canopy tour was great in Jamaica! But don't make the same mistake that one poor lady on our tour made. She booked it thinking it was something like a relaxing ski lift ride only to find out when she got there that it was a high energy zip line including lots of stairs and walking. But then again, even she enjoyed it in the end.

My experience with NCL was good but did not meet the standard set by my previous cruising experience with Princess Cruises.

Check in procedures were exceptionally slow with many of us waiting in line for nearly 2 hours. Only half of the available computers were being used to check in passengers while the other half were operated at half the speed of Princess (the average check in time for the people in front of me in line was 6 minutes per person (yes I timed it). As I would find out during the next week, waiting exceptionally long is a routine experience on NCL and logistics (organizing the flow of things and people) is something the company does not do well at all.

Once on board, I found the crew members to be very courteous, helpful, and friendly.

My room was clean and well kept, so no complaints there - except that I requested a non smoking room and I was places right beside a designated smoking area for crew members. That doesn't help the allergies!

Food was good but nothing worth celebrating. In both the buffet and the other dining halls, the service was fantastic but the quality of food left something to be desired.

Entertainment was a mixed bag of nuts. Some of it was wonderful and far outdid my previous experience on Princess. But then there were other bits of entertainment that were just plain disgusting. Passengers were all assured that the shows in the Stardust Theatre were all family friendly and fit for children but some of the entertainment was so littered with sexual references and seductive dance that it wasn't even suitable for adults, let alone children. Specifically, the NCL dance team had way to much seductive dance and some of the outfits were fit for the bedroom between husband and wife only; and he comedy troupe brought onboard would only have 5 minutes worth of show if they took out the sexual references. On the bright side, there was a really good juggler/comedian brought on whom I would highly recommend.

So in summary, the staff was great, food was ok, accommodations were fine, and entertainment had some good elements but a lot of junk. In the future, I'll gladly pay an extra hundred or two to travel with a different cruise line.
