This was our second cruise, first time with Norwegian.

All in all, we had a great time. The Norwegian Pearl is a beautiful ship. It is elegant, colorful, and comfortable.

We received great service from (almost) everyone. Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive.

The food was very good. We had 2-3 exceptional meals (La Cucina, Moderno, and one night in the Summer Palace), the rest was good to very good. We ate all our breakfasts and 5 evenings in the Summer Palace, lunch was usually by the pool.

The alcoholic drinks were well made, just the right ratio of alcohol to pop/juice. I was actually impressed with how good they were.

We had a gorgeous cabin! I had upgraded us to a BX (guaranteed cabin) about a month before the cruise, and we lucked out with a balcony cabin on deck 10. It was far enough from the elevators to not be disturbed by the noise, it was plenty spacious for 2 adults and a child. I loved the bathroom layout, and the amount of storage in the cabin. Having a balcony was absolutely amazing, I could never go back to just an oceanview stateroom now.

We didn't participate in the activities on the ship as it was hard with a 2.5 year old, so I cannot comment on those. The evening shows were fairly good though, with 4 of them being really great!

The itinerary of this cruise was very interesting!

- Tortola (Virgin Gorda & The Baths shore excursion - beautiful place!!! Absolutely recommended!)

- Antigua (we took a local cab who brought us to Darkwood Beach. What an amazing, beautiful, quiet, beach! Not many people around, restaurant, washrooms, change rooms - on site. In hindsight, 3 hours was too short, we could have easily stayed 2-3 hours longer.)

- Martinique (great city, awesome to just walk around, taste some of the local food).

- St-Kitts (Railway tour shore excursion. Great tour, very interesting. A bit too long for young children though)

- St-Thomas (Beautiful island! Great shopping if you have money for jewelry, watches, etc. We took the Coral World shore excursion. Great place to visit especially with children, restaurant on site. 1 hour of beach time at Coki Beach afterwards. In hindsight, it's a place you can totally visit on your own by just taking a local cab, and we would totally do that again for spending more time at the Coki Beach. GORGEOUS place, albeit crowded, but you can snorkel and scuba dive right off there.. Amazing!)

All in all, we had a great time. The Norwegian Pearl is a beautiful ship. It is elegant, colorful, and comfortable.

As for disappointments: Our biggest disappointment was that this ship has nothing for children 2-3 years old. You can always take them into the babies play room, but all toys there are meant for 8-20 months old babies. The elephant splash pool area was very nice, but there again - it would have been really nice to have another pool with a bit more water than a few inches. The family and adult pools were nice, but the water was a tad cold, and at 5'4", I could not reach the bottom... so never mind taking my boy with me if my husband was not in the pool. This was VERY disappointing.

The second and final disappointment for us was our cabin steward. He was very friendly and loved to chat in the corridor, but he did not adapt to us at all. Due to traveling with a toddler, we were often in the cabin for the night by 8:30, 9 pm. For half of our cruise (the last part), our cabin was never made for the evening by the time we got back to it after the evening show. His excuse was that he hadn't gotten to it yet. I am sure he could have prioritized making up those cabins in which guests were arriving early for the night... He also took away my son's blanket with the bed sheets in the middle of our cruise, and even though I nicely told him that it was very important he found it ASAP because my son sleeps with that blanket, it took him over 24 hours to find it, and after I asked him about it a few times.

All in all, we had a great time on the Norwegian Pearl! We would probably sail with them again once my son is a bit older (over 6) and could enjoy the Splash Academy and the pools.
