My family and I took the Hawaiian cruise on Thanksgiving week. I had cruised the
Hawaiian islands before with NCL on The Star. The pre-hotel stay at the Marriott
Waikiki Beach was wonderful. A really great hotel and the ability to do
pre-check-in for the ship is such an advantage. When we went to get on the ship
it took at the most 30 minutes. The ship was clean and very beautiful. We
enjoyed the cruise staff. The ship’s food needs work in the main dining rooms.
The NCL Star’s food was much better. They are slow and the food on the Royal
Caribbean cruise line is far better. The entertainment was fair and they did
have good craft classes. The islands are beautiful and NCL really offers some
great excursions. It rained on us in Kauai so we couldn’t see the Canyon. I
highly recommend the Deluxe Volcano’s Tour. It’s a small group of about 12 and
they take you places and share information you would never get on your own. We
ate our lunch watching where the lava was hitting the ocean. The luau was really
nice and we snorkeled at the Molikini Crater. All in all you will enjoy your
cruise because it’s Hawaii and beautiful beyond compare.
