Well this was the first real cruise for this ship and they
have some bugs to work out. The ship was absolutely beautiful! Of course it was
very clean, not much use.
I was very worried after reading some reviews about the NCL America cruises of
Hawaii. Poor reviews on customer service due to the required high percentage of
Americans hired on these ships. Well, we didn't find anyone rude or complaining
about their jobs like I had heard. All the crew that I spoke to was very
friendly. What they are lacking is experience and attention to detail that you
become very used to if you have cruised before. Mostly very small things like
dirty glasses left in the room for days, food being overcooked and the wait
staff never noticing (seared tuna is supposed to be raw in the middle....not
flaky!), crumbs not being removed from the table before dessert, and serving
from the wrong side or not bringing the appropriate utensil. I do have to say
the food was not as good as what I have had before on other NCL cruises and not
as much variety. The buffet often served the same items as the dining rooms.
All in all it was a good trip and we had a great time, however if you are used
to cruising you will probably be a little disappointed.
The ports were all wonderful. We rented a car in several and had a good time
exploring on our own.
