This trip was a major disappointment for us. Norwegian says they are sorry but will not reimburse for losses on our big family vacation that were due to no fault of ours. We made the best of our time together but I would call dealing with Norwegian, in any of its incarnations, a disaster.

We took the “Pride of American” around the Hawaiian Islands, July 2010. Two weeks before we were to leave, Norwegian canceled one day of our tour (for ‘routine’ maintenance – whats with that in the middle of summer?), eliminating one island. They booked us into Honolulu for the last night of our cruise. However, 3 young adult men in our family were sharing one cabin (4 single beds) on the ship (I was clear separate beds would be necessary when I booked), but in Honolulu, Norwegian felt that a hotel room with 2 double beds was just the same!! We had to get another hotel room. ($150 )

Then there were the transfers. We prepaid $50 a person for transfers from airport to ship and from the ship/hotel to the airport at the end of the trip. The NCL representative at the hotel who was there to help with this complication to our cruise, (to take care of ‘anything, any problems you may have’) told us they had no record of the $250 which we had paid for this convenience. We had to get ourselves to the airport.

Of course, the transfers when we arrived were no picnic, After waiting outside at the loading dock for 40 minutes, while another plane load of people left us still sitting there, a very disgruntled driver and van appeared. (It’s our fault?) Convenience is what you pay for with these transfers. I could have called my own van/limo etc., waited my own 40 minutes and probably be out less money.
But after flying 6 hours, and having made connections from another city before that, a little convenience was why this service is so nice to have in a timely manner.

I’ve dealt with our broker , OnLine Vacations, seeking reimbursement for the extra hotel room and return transfers. We're only asking to be made whole based on the trip as represented when we paid. But OnLine Vacations say Norwegian is totally responsible for the transfers (even though we paid OnLine Vacations for them as a separate line item) and of course Norwegian is responsible for the hotel arrangements. I have no contact person at Norwegian, but in response to my contact with our broker, Norwegian sent me a two page letter about how sorry, sorry, sorry they are but that I need to see my broker. . .who of course says it is all Norwegian's responsibility. Nice, sleazy little game.

They win. I won't use any Norwegian ship or that broker again.

My advice to you is to check out river cruising in Europe. So much more fun. Most on-shore trips are included, too!

OK. Kids liked it.

Ok. Responsive staff.

Alcohol was pushed everywhere but it was very expensive. Music was great if you like Jimmy Buffet (I do)

Stay away from dealing with Norwegian. They don't care if your needs are met or not. They probably do if you are rich enough.

I think I just did. And I won't be back because of the way my family and I have been treating since the trip.
