Itinerary: The Islands of Hawaii

This was our second cruise. We wanted to see Hawaii and rejected the idea of sailing from Vancouver or LA because of the days on the open sea. Pride of America fit the bill to see the islands. We had read many reviews, some good and some bad. We booked anyway and were pleasantly surprised. Everything from check in to the staff was more than we expected.
The one thing that bothered me was the Internet access. It was very slow. I don't know if it is this way on all ships but this service was terrible. They charged a lot for very little service.
If you need Internet access, our room had a data jack and if you bring your network cable ( or the Internet cafe will lend you one) you can access the Internet in your room.

The food was fine. We ate in the non cover charge restaurants most of the time. The food was very good, the service was excellent. The staff could not do enough for us. From bringing various wines to try before purchasing one, to bringing additional selections of the dinner. We did try the Italian restaurant and it was ok but not worth the cover charge. I do not like or agree with the cover charge practice for restaurants. On this ship 6 of 11 restaurants had a cover charge.
The breakfast in the Aloha cafe was excellent and if you stay on the starboard side and continue to the rear of the boat (stern) you will come out on the open deck and it is an excellent place for breakfast.

The stateroom was clean and modern. We were very happy with it. We had a large balcony ( under the bridge) and we used it quite a bit. Over all we were happy with the room

We signed up for the pub crawl ( 5 drinks in 5 bars in 55 min) It was a blast and a great way to meet other people. ( It took more than 55 min) We then ended up at the pool and the band was great. We enjoyed the music and dancing.

Use Tom's barefoot excursions as they are cheaper than the NCL excursions.

We used the ship as a hotel and we were very happy. Other than the Internet access and the cover charge restaurants listed above we found the ship to be clean, the staff friendly and helpful.
We rented a car most of the time and used a travel book to pick our our daily trips.
Overall we rated this 8.5 out of 10. We would use NCL again.
