Two ladies off to Hawaii! I have cruised on two NCL cruises before and am sold on Freestyle cruising. I am no longer interested in having to dress up, assigned dinner table or time or the formalities previously assigned to cruising. I really like being to be free to do whatever.

There were no problems at all during check in and the crew and staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Getting on and off was handled very efficiently. The ship is beginning to show her age but she is worked really hard...7 days a week in the same circle!
We really enjoyed the professional entertainment, 70's rock and roll. We also enjoyed the required comedian and magician. They did a good job of getting some of the kids involved and were G rated. If you are really picky you could find fault but we are not so it was just fine for us.

The food is about what you would expect from institutional food peparation.. Our favorite was the Aloha buffet breakfast. Anything you could possibly want! The food is served in stations so there is a lot of traffic going in all directions at once. It's easy to get run over or run over someone else. We had dinner twice in the Skyline and one meal was really good and the other ok. We didn't choose any of the Speciality Restaurants but our friends did and they were to particularly impressed.

Our stateroom was small but very nice, except for a leaky shower that was never fixed. We were at the very back of the ship so we had an oversized balcony and it was great!

We did not participate in any of the onboard activities as we were in port every day so we were gone most of the time.

We did take one short excursion on Kona and it was very enjoyable. The host was very informed and gave us a good history lesson which is what we wanted.

We had a great trip. The people were very pleasant and fun. It would be hard to maintain your enthusiasm but they do a good job. We wanted to do the islands and this cruise provided us with just that. I have been to Alaska and Mexico on the Star so I am sold on NCL because of their philosophy.
