Marco Polo II
Previously named the S.S. Maxim Gorkiy, the Orient Marco Polo II once hosted U.S. President George H.W. Bush and Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev during talks regarding the fall of the Berlin Wall. Despite her nearly 40 years of service, the Marco Polo II is now in mint condition, from her engines and decks to her fabrics and carpets. The vessel is currently 20% larger than the "old" Marco Polo and will carry 20% fewer passengers. Many of its Russian crewmembers, both below decks and on the bridge, have worked on this ship for more than two decades. All passenger accommodations feature two lower beds (one convertible to a sofa), a mini bar, satellite TV, music channels, a safe or safe drawer, a built-in hairdryer, individual temperature control, nightly turn-down service, and a private bathroom with tub and/or shower.
