My husband and I were on Caribbean Princess 5 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary and thought it was pretty good. We decided to go on Caribbean Princess again for our 30th anniversary-what a difference! The room was not clean, the balcony was splattered with white paint and varnish-on the balcony glass, the chairs, the floor, the sliding doors-it was everywhere! We paid extra to be on the 14th floor of the ship, but ended up right under the pool area-what a mistake that was! The noise was unbearable, from 8:00 in the morning to 2:00 the next morning, thumping, jumping, scraping of chairs, etc. Princess also booked our flights-as Canadians, we had to be off the ship by 9:30 am (what's up with that??), and our flight wasn't until 6:30 pm that night!

The food was okay. They had German food at the buffet, 1 night each week that we were on the ship, which was great for the Germans on board, but left little variety for the rest of us! The dining room food was better, but space was limited, and most of the waiters had an attitude!

The stateroom was not clean, it was rundown. Even the armchair in the room was filthy. As I've already said, it was noisy, and had Princess warned us that being on this floor would be noisy, we would have saved the extra money and booked a different floor! Princess charges $11.50 per person, per day, for cleaning of the room, so I think a little more attention to detail and cleanliness should be delivered!

Didn't really participate in any onboard activities. This cruise was out of San Juan, so the entire cruise was dedicated to the Puerto Rican crowd. Apparently, there was a last minute sale to fill up the ship and the Puerto Ricans took advantage of it. Their kids were out of control and undisciplined, so we stayed away from most public areas. Ship staff were useless in trying to control the situation.

My husband went deep sea fishing, but had to arrange this on his own, as Princess could not help. Excursions are overpriced, and transportation was overcrowed-like sardines crammed into a can!

Our trip was a disaster. Accommodations were lousy to say the least. We could hardly stand to sit on the balcony due to the noise level above. Princess should have warned us that we would be below the pool area, and it would be noisy. We would never have gone with this room, had we known. We booked our flight through Princess also, and were advised there were no direct flights from Toronto, Ontario to San Juan-found out later, from another Ontario couple, that this was a lie. They had booked their flight also out of Toronto, with Westjet, and got a direct flight to San Juan, for less money. Princess destroyed our luggage when removing it from the ship to the onshore terminal-we should have kept it with us and brought it ourselves! Hard to believe they could do so much damage in such a short transfer, but they managed to rip the wheel off, and rip the luggage material wide open! Overall, our 30th wedding anniversary was a disaster. Worst vacation we've ever had.
