Ship: Caribbean Princess
Sailing Date: November 26, 2006
Itinerary: Eastern Caribbean
This was our second Princess cruise. I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t enjoy cruising, its such a great way to see a variety of countries and places, without the hassle of airports, checking in, security, and all the other joys of traveling.
The Caribbean Princess is a massive ship, although we found that there were a lot of times and areas where we felt we were the only couple on the entire ship. Days at sea when the weather is nice, you can expect the pools and outdoor common areas will be crowded, but not so crowded that you can’t find a lounge chair.
Princess does a great job of keeping the ship clean and well appointed. Cruise staff do their best to make you feel welcome, and make you feel that they are there for your comfort. I felt uncomfortable with how often they would come in and pick up our clothes and make the bed, it was great, but at the same time, I’m not used to having my things picked up by someone else…no complaints though.
The ONLY thing that I wish they would change is that they don’t really have non smoking rooms, so people can smoke in the room next to you if they desire. Great for smokers, but for me, I find the smell repulsive, and really wish they would make a smoke free ship. I did notice that there were a lot less smoking areas this year on the Caribbean ship than the Star Princess, which was great to see.
The food was excellent, although not always 5 star quality, the presentation and taste was good, and always fresh, and of course as much of it as you wanted.
The Spa is beautiful, and relaxing. The treatments are fairly priced, and the staff works hard to earn the gratuity.
The entertainment was fair, and exactly what one should expect on such a line, nothing spectacular, but all done in good taste, and enough of it to keep you occupied. We did have some issues with the movies under the stars not showing the movie that was printed a couple times which we were told were “misprints” in the program. Instead of the movies they were showing college football, which also was airing in the sports lounge and in the staterooms, however the movies were not.
Princess is a great cruise line for the value and quality of the rooms, ships, food, and service.
