I just recently return from the Princess Eastern Caribbean Cruise and was very
disappointed. I heard so much praise about the Princess cruise line so I thought
I would give it a try. My first cruise was with COSTA and now I will always book
with them.
Airport:
First impression of the crew at the airport was bad. The people were rude and
not very helpful. I'm talking about the Princess crew people who are there to
take you to the ship not the airport employees. So my first impression of
Princess already started off bad.
Embankment:
This process was very fast. They say to arrive an hour earlier, but we arrived
at 1 and there was no wait at all.
Cruise:
Overall the places we visited were very nice. It was the crew members that made
my experience not so great. they didn't seem as happy as the Costa cruise crew.
The rooms were definitely smaller. I had a balcony room with my fiancé and it
was much smaller then the balcony on our first cruise. The design of the ship
was not was beautiful as I expected it to be. I think we were disappointed
because this ship had a higher rank then our first one but didn't meet our
expectations. The shows were no as good as Costa. it seemed like the cruise was
aimed more towards older people than people our age. Another thing was the ship
seemed to rock allot. Our first experience on a cruise barely had any rocking,
but we had rocking pretty much the whole time we were at sea.
Coke sticker:
Advice on this is just buy one sticker! We bought one and would ask for two
drinks and they would bring it out without checking for two stickers. The cost
of the unlimited drink sticker was $35.00. Worth it if you drink lots of soda,
which we didn't
St Maarten:
The island is the not as pretty as the other three but still pretty. We went to
Orient Beach, which was beautiful but lots of waves. Another piece of advice; do
not book the taxi through the cruise ship, just get one when you get off the
port. They are exactly like the one you get on the cruise but more expensive.
It's because the cruise charges you $9 per person one way versus $6 if you wait
till you get off the ship and get the taxi. If you're going to shop for
diamonds, St. Maarten is the place to do it. My friend went looking for diamonds
but ran out of time. The thought that it would be the same price as St. Thomas,
but it turned out St. Thomas cost more.
St. Thomas:
One this island we decided to go to Magen's Bay. This place was beautiful. My
fiancé and I brought some floats to lay on so we didn't have to rent any. The
water was very calm. After spending time at the beach we went shopping. St.
Thomas does have more shopping then St. Maarten but it was just a little more
expensive.
Princess Cays:
Now this was our last stop and it made my trip better! This place is
BEAUTIFUL!!!! Crystal clear water!!!!!!! with white sand. I can't even begin to
describe how beautiful Princess Cays was!!!! We brought our own floats and just
floated in the ocean. We had our own goggles to go snorkeling, and it was worth
it. We would pick up sand and fishes thought it was food and would swim up to
us. The ship does have a bbq on the island, but some advice the buffet closes at
1:00!!! We didn't know that and we were ten minutes late and they wouldn't let
us in line, but we managed to jump in to get food. They didn't post the time
anywhere on our schedule so we didn't know. It was sad that this was the BEST
island but you get the least amount of time! I would advised you to wake up on
time and spend the entire time on the beach!!!!! We didn't even want to leave
when it was time to go!
