My husband and I are avid cruisers and usually travel on luxury lines(Regent, Seabourn etc) we were hoping to find a less costly alternative.
We know several people who have enjoyed Princess so we gave them a try.
The Princess representative was 11/2 hours late meeting us at Heathrow and the travel papers provided by the cruise line didn't list the London agent. We were just about to buy bus tranfers when he arrived.
The rest of the land portion was without incident.
On our return to Heathrow we were told we were not booked on the flight listed on our itinerary and there were no seats on the flight we thought we were booked on. Thankfully the AA supervisor was able to help us.

The food was very ordinary.
The Horizon Court offers the usual buffet fare. The service was excellent with your empty plates quickly removed and your beverages always refilled. The Calypso Court offers a smaller selection of buffet dishes but the service is night and day from the Horizon. The wait staff spent more time talking with each other than helping passengers. I asked for non fat milk for my coffee and the waiter never returned.
We ate dinner in the Da Vinci dining room and while the food was nothing special the service was outstanding. We had anytime dining and were always able to get a table for 2 whenever we went in.

We had a balcony staeroom. It had plenty of storage and was always kept clean. The balcony was nice size with comfotable seating. The stateroom was tight and the decor was 80's motel.

There was lots to do everyday we were at sea.

Meeting and leaving the ship for excursions were very well exected by the staff. The land portions were not as well run. A passenger became very ill during one tour and there was no emergency plan in place. No one from the ship accompanies the tours. My husband and another passengers had to assist the passenger and his companion and help them back to the ship.

The service, friendliness of the staff and the space ratio make it a good value for the money. The food, while beautifully presented, is ordinary.
This seems to be a great line for multi-generational groups. They have lots of activities for kids and offer a childrens menu in the dining room.
