This was my first cruise and overall I was very impressed and will definitely be cruising again. I arrived under my own steam at the International Cruise Centre in LA. Check in was smooth and efficient. They loaded the passengers on by color groupings, great idea. My luggage took a little longer than anticipated to arrive in my cabin - about 3 hours. This was due to increased security check I was told. My cabin steward was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. I was so glad I booked a cabin with a balcony (even though it was small, it was worth it!), it's fantastic opening up the curtains in he morning and stepping outside to see what sort of day it is! The room was kept clean and everything worked fine. The air-conditioning was excellent - luckily as it was very hot once we hit Mexico. It was a full ship we were told, almost 2900 passengers, but I didn't notice the ship being crowded at all. There are so many places to visit and things to do, and it’s HUGE. The staff were excellent, all of them so friendly and hospitable. One of the best things about this cruise was the standard of dining. The food served in the restaurants (I tried them all because I was on 'anytime' dining) was fabulous. I would highly recommend anytime dining, it gives you so much choice and you get to try out all the restaurants. My favorite was the 'Savoy'. A very convenient service was being able to order wine by the bottle and they will store it for you until the next dinner and then retrieve it, and it didn't matter that you ate at a different restaurant each night, they would still retrieve your wine. The Internet cafe worked fine, despite reading some reviews to the contrary. I emailed home every 2nd day and had no problems at all. The Mexican Ports were good for shopping (especially silver jeweler) but the weather was extremely hot in September. I'd leave it until Nov or Dec to go to Mexico again. I heard from some other passengers that it's cheaper to book the shore excursions once you get to the port, rather than through Princess, however you run the risk of them not getting you back to the ship on time to leave! Overall, I had a wonderful holiday and lots of fun.
