We just got back from a 7 day cruise aboard Golden Princess and we were
extremely happy with the cruise. The service on board was excellent. The
cabin stewards and wait staff were first rate. The shopping coordinator,
Cynde, became one of our family and even helped us pick out and engagement
ring. We loved the staff.
We also liked the ship very much. The ship has many beautiful common areas
to enjoy and feels very spacious. The pool areas were the nicest we have
seen on any ship so far. The biggest negative regarding the common areas
is the space used for some of the shows. There was never enough room in
the comedy shows, which were in a smaller theater than the main theater
(which for some strange reason was showing movies many nights). As
mentioned in other reviews, the cruise director, Omar, was terrible. Don't
count on him to plan your activities.
What about the food? Very hit or miss. Something's were great and others
were poor. If you are a big dessert person, this is probably not your
cruise. Desserts were fair at best. The quality of the buffet was good,
the pizza is good, and the grill area is also a great place to get a snack
after a long day on shore but before the late seating. The premium
restaurants are also not worth the price as the quality is similar to the
regular restaurants. If your cruising because of the cuisine pick
Celebrity or better yet Crystal. Many of the cruise said the food was
similar to Royal Caribbean.
The ports of call are beautiful and why we picked this cruise. Be sure to
visit St. John's when you get to St. Thomas (St. John's has the best
beaches anywhere and the snorkeling is good too). The St. Marten catamaran
snorkeling cruise was a blast too. We would definately cruise Princess
again but as in all things in life there are negatives with the positives.
