Golden Princess Cruise Review
Southern Caribbean
Katie and Jason
My husband and I celebrated our
4-year anniversary on this cruise, which was our first cruise ever. Overall, we
had an EXCELLENT vacation.
First of all, our steward was so friendly, helpful, and welcoming, but not
over-bearing at all. Our bags came to our room quickly, and we were unpacked and
comfortable with the ship almost right away (besides getting lost a few times!
It's huge!). The food in the evenings was absolutely delicious, and the buffet
was pretty good. The entertainment was great, and we were mad at ourselves for
missing a really funny comedian on the second night. There are several kinds of
live music going on in the evenings and the entertainers seem to really enjoy
their jobs. Even the bartenders were friendly and always smiling. The atmosphere
onboard was great. We met nice people of all ages and from many different
countries.
The only bad thing that happened was that our toilet didn't work for a few hours
on one day toward the end of the cruise, but it was fixed pretty quickly. We did
hear someone complain about a little peeling paint on the ship, but we hadn't
even noticed that and it's not a big deal to us anyway. The ship seemed to be in
great shape to us.
We really enjoyed our balcony and having our door open at night. I would
definitely recommend having a balcony, which is a comment I heard from many
people. I sometimes get motion sickness, but had absolutely none of that on this
trip. One night the waves were a little rough, but it was fine with me. We also
had a room toward the middle of the ship, which may have helped with that.
We visited 5 islands - St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Grenada, Aruba, and Isla
Margarita. They were all beautiful. We golfed on St. Thomas and St. Kitts -
beautiful, but challenging! Some of the holes are right on the ocean, which
makes for some amazing pictures.
THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP: Watching our very own UT Longhorns win the
Rose Bowl!!!
We had such a great time that I started looking for a cruise for our five-year
anniversary a few days after we got back! Although we can't compare Princess to
any other cruises since this was out first one, I can't imagine that any other
cruise line would be much better!
