Overall the cruise was good but not memorable. Three days before leaving we
received an e-mail saying that grand Cayman had been removed from a port for our
cruise and would be replaced with Playa Del Carman which is still suffering from
hurricand damage and requires tenders to get to shore. Talking with others,
Princess is doing this same change on all of the Grand Princess cruises instead
of changing their itennary. Staff was nice for the cruise and shows were average
at best. Food was good but most lacked flavor and spice.
The first 2 ports it was raining in the morning and all tours were cancelled. In
Belize they did not tell us until we had tendered to shore and were told by the
tour guide. Made out own tour with one of the tour guides and saw the zoo. Small
but interesting.
At the third port, Playa Del Carmen, the tenders were very unorganized and we
were 2 hours late getting to shore. They had to cut our tour of Tulum short with
only a brief walk and talk.
The last stop was Cozumel. Went on a snorkel trip after tendering to shore. Good
operators and beautiful fish. Coral was severely damanged though. Town still
needs much rebuilding to be back to quality with many things still under
construction. No sign of reconstruction on the docks for the cruise ships so
expect tendering for the next several months. Happy I was not on the Grand last
week. Ship made a quick turn leaving Galveston with a LOT of list. Several
people injured and lots of "stuff" damaged or broken. Think before using this
shiop in the near future.
