As an experienced Princess cruiser, I was disappointed in this cruise. This is the first time I've EVER been able to say that I was not happy with a Princess cruise but there have, it appears to me, to be major changes since my last cruise on Princess just one year ago. The overall quality of the food has dropped, the condistion of the ship is not what is was and the staff attitude was not the happy people as in the past. Many were obviously not happy with Princess and you could see it. One staff member told me that all they are doing is cutting cost everywhere and he blamed it on Carnival. I am thinking about trying RCCL again after a few years exclusively with Princess.

The food was mediocre at best. We had our traditional dining as usual except as it turned out, it wasn't as usual. We were confirmed for the 6:00 seating, however, when we received our cruise card as we boarded, we noticed it said 5:30. As it turned out, we were seated in the anytime dining room because they had no table for two in the traditional dining room. We were told our table would only be held for 15 minutes before being released for anytime dining. The food was noticably smaller in portion then in the past and tasted overall like it was microwaved. The old days where the excellent food of Princess were gone on this cruise. Interestingly enough, my son and his wife were on the Sapphire Princess at the same time we were on the Grand. We all had the same stories to tell about the food and ship condition. In fact, we filled out our Princess post cruise e-mail survey together, he for Sapphire and me for Grand. Neither of us rated the cruise very good. He received a phone call the next day. It's been a month and so far, no call from Princess to me.

The stateroom was as I would normally expect it to be with the exception of all of the rust on the balcony.

Onboard activities were good. I've seen better but no complaints here.

We absolutely love De Palm Island in Aruba. Unfortunately, it rained that day but we still had a great time. Never miss De Palm Island whenever on a cruise. The Bushwacker in St. Thomas at Paradise Point is a don't miss! Beautiful views and they know how to make a drink. Plan on at least two Bushwackers. Whatever you do, don't miss this tour.

We had to pass san Juan due to an engine issue on the ship and went streight to our second port but overall the itinerary was great. Just very disappointed in all of the rust on the ship and the mediocre food. I'm not sure if Carnival is trying to reposition the Princess brand as a lower end brand or what but it certainly was a much lower quality cruise then just last year. For the first time ever, after two weeks, I was ready to get off the ship. I hope they work out the issues within Princess because I really have always loved that company.
