Itinerary: The Ruby Princess

We truly enjoyed our honeymoon aboard The Ruby Princess last December. It was the first cruise for both my husand and me, making this a true adventure for us! We enjoyed almost everything with the exception of our dinner seating selection. We did have a couple of days of rough seas but we both had sea sickness patches to place behind our ears. We did find out through many seasoned cruise veterans that there are bands available in drug stores you wear on your wrist that prevent sea sickness without medication. If I were to go on another cruise I would take both just in case the bands did not work for me.

We chose the traditional assigned seating for evening meals hoping to meet new people and have some interesting dinner conversations. We were extremely dissappointed. We are both in our mid 50's and were seated at a table for 8 with only two other assigned guests. They were in their late teens and did not attend meals every evening, leaving us to dine alone at a huge table making us feel very uncomfortable. When we asked about moving to a different table - we were told they could not do that during the cruise. The food selection is excellent and we enjoyed the incredible presentations. Our server who attended our table each evening was quite simply wonderful. If I were to go on another Princess cruise I would choose the "anytime" seating so we could explore more options.

We were impressed with the size and appearance of the room and our balcony was fantastic! The room stewart was very attentive and did a wonderful job of taking care of all our needs.

We attended all of the shows and enjoyed them very much. It was good quality entertainment given the time frame they had to present these shows.

We booked our own excursions online. Booking directly with merchant is much cheaper and you get good advice online with blogs about places or activities you enjoy. All the excursions we went on were very aware of cruise line time tables and there was NEVER a problem getting back to the ship on time. I was afraid the Princess Cays Island would be a commercial den, but to my great surprise it was more laid back and "Island like" than any other of our stops. It was a delightful day of sitting on the beach and relaxing, making it the perfect ending to our cruise!

We enjoyed our first cruise very much - the beautiful ship, wonderful food and interesting stops were just great! The crew employees tend to be from different countries making for some very interesting conversations while exploring the vast ship. Crew members are friendly and helpful however, I could not help but notice a lot of very tired, sleepy crew members. We found out how difficult their schedules are! There should be a little more down time for those employees. A happy well rested crew would have made this a better vacation for me.
