Itinerary: The Mediterranean

We are platinum Princess members. We travel with 6 to 12 other couples..We are all used to luxury vacations and you get what you pay for.we have sailed on Celebrity(didn't compare to Princess),Royal Caribbean ,Crystal(excellent) Oceana(disappointing),Ama Waterways,(fabulous) Viking River Cruises(the worst),Costa(horrible) and many others.

We always take mini suites on all trips so we are comparing apples to apples. We always go to Europe,Med,Baltic,Asia .We do not travel to Caribbean as we are Floridians and enjoy that climate year round. We are looking forward to the new Royal Princess we are taking on July5,2013 from Venice to Barcelona.

We have traveled on the old Royal ,Crown,Ruby,Diamond,Grand,Emerald etc.We have always found Princess to have beautiful mini suites,Sabatini's and crown Grill Room excellent, great staff, and very accommodating. We never use their Shore excursions, always hire private drivers.Great Broadway shows, love the Sanctuary Deck and movies under the stars.

Remember they are feeding 3000 isn't gourmet but it is certainly very good.Viking Food not edible.Ama Waterways and Crystal smaller ships, excellent food.Sabatinis and Crown Room have excellent food,,made special things not on menu for us,very accommodating .Celebrity Equinox private restaurant would not go to regular dining room to get Ceasar salad for our friend. We were told Ceasar salad not available in their restaurant(specialty) only regular dining room.We were in disbelief.

We tried anytime dining..we never waited in line.We gave Maitre'd a little tip, told him we wanted to eat at 7:45at same table every night and for 2 weeks our requests were honored 10 very happy people.

Also found head waiter came by every nite to see if he could make us special dishes the following day. He showed us following day menu so we could decide if we were eating in Main dining room or specialty.

Sometimes a small tip at the beginning of your vacation goes a very long way to assure you above and beyond service!

Mini suites beautiful! Large ,clean, and great services only book that type of room.i feel a vacation should be more luxurious then my daily life home.A vacation should be living better then I do at home so we splurge a little.

We give room Stewart a small tip first day ($10 -$20 per couple and we tell him what we want for entire cruise) and we have extra towels, fresh fruit, ice tea and cookies waiting in our room at 5:30 pm when we come back from our shore trips.our rooms are cleaned early and often. These Stewart's appreciate the money and it is only $1or $2 extra a day for fabulous get what you pay for!

The movies under the stars are great,we play bingo sometimes and we enjoy evening shows after dinner.we like beauty salon spa, massages, gyms and most of all the Sanctuary deck..A little piece of heaven at sea.

On the Celebrity and Royal there was no private, beautiful space for us to hang out on sea days.We love sea days and have done several transatlantic the 6-8 days at sanctuary for entire time

Don t use your excursions except on Ama Waterways certain days.Since we have been traveling to Europe for 35 years we have our private drivers lined up. Don't like to be with big groups on bus going with so so guides and cheap souvenir shops

We have been to the ports many times but we love the entire experience..In Livorno will go to Florence, Luca,Regello, San gimigano,Sienna Montatacini etc.We always mix up our trips for different cities in different years Venice will go to PaduaBologna,Abano ,Verona Vincenzo etcRome,Orvieto etc.

Be adventurous..go with other people, split private tours, use car services, have a driver make restaurant reservations for you..Enjoy yourself
