Ship: Star Princess
Sailing Date: December 26th, 2004
Itinerary: Eastern Caribbean

First the good: The boat itself was gorgeous and kept very clean. Lots of fun activities to keep us busy. Wine tasting was fun, dance class was fun, karaoke was fun, the nightclub was fun. Good mixture of age groups on board. The service was quick and servers were very nice, friendly, and helpful. Drinks were not too expensive if you compare them to a big city. Only $4.25 a martini, we pay like $10 each here in the city.

The bad: The food was horrible. The buffet was the worst food I have ever tasted, cold, bland, etc. They even screwed up breakfast, the pancakes were crunchy and stale. How can you screw up breakfast? The regular restaurants like Portofino, etc, were average to below average. Some meals were okay to slightly good, others were bad. We never had a GOOD meal at these either. Food was typically served cold. I would say overall the food was poor quality. Now for the additional cover charge restaurant, Tequilas was very good. I would compare it to an outback restaurant. Steaks were good, but not fantastic. We paid $15 extra per person to eat here a few times just so we could have decent food. Portions everywhere were much smaller then USA style portions, so if you like to eat a lot, make sure you order extra stuff. I am very tiny, size 4, and I ordered an appetizer, salad, soup, main entree, and dessert all for myself because the portions were small everywhere and I like to taste a lot of different things. Other bad things about the cruise is the showers in your room. They are very tiny. I am tiny and I barely fit into them. I cannot imagine how an overweight person would fit into the showers. They really should have made them a little bigger. We sailed pretty rough seas so as I was showering all my shampoo etc kept falling on me. There is nowhere really to put it that it will not fall and roll around at.

Overall if it was not for the food I would give this cruise line an A. Adding in the food it pushes it down to a D.
