This was our first cruise with Princess. I made the mistake of reading too many
reviews before we left...leaving me worrying about what we were in for. But what
I found, for myself, was a wonderful cruise. It was one of the most relaxing
cruises we've had. Last year we did the southern Caribbean, and loved it, but an
island a day was hectic. This one had more days at sea...and we had a balcony
for the first time, which we really enjoyed. We made the most of the room
service; I sometimes wonder if people use it? Coffee on the balcony every
morning was heaven for us. My only complaint. it would have been nice to have
loungers on the balcony, chairs were not the most comfortable, but even still, I
don’t think we’ll cruise again without a balcony.
We found the public areas to be very spacious, a lot of pools to choose from, we
travel without the kids, so it was nice to see there were 2 adult only pools.
One of the reviews I was seeing a lot was this constant complaint about chair
hogging and not enough chairs, I don’t know what ship these people were on, but
there were loads of chairs everywhere. Maybe the chair hogging referred to the
area around the main pool, but this was something we didn’t seem to notice.
Pools are also fresh water, which is nice.
Service overall was good…even the room service, they would say about 20 minutes.
only to arrive in less than 10 depending on what you ordered. We chose anytime
dining which was new to us, but found we loved it. It was nice to not have to
rush for dinner, and we only waited one night for about 10 minutes. Food was
good in the dining room; buffets got to be the same ol’ same ol’…but were always
fresh. Coffee…well that’s another story, it was a hit and miss, mostly a miss,
let’s face it, they aren’t making money on the coffee, so it was basically bad.
too bad no coffee makers in the rooms. One thing they did have though was a room
on every floor for doing some extra laundry or ironing, this was a great idea
since no irons in the rooms anymore.
Hope this gives a basic idea of what to expect, we would have to say this was
the nicest cruise ship we’ve been on, and would book again with Princess. We
have been on Royal Caribbean which is comparable to Princess, and
Celebrity…which was just to ‘hoity toity’ for us layed back Canadians!
