Ship: Star Princess
Sailing Date: August 2nd, 2003
Itinerary: Alaska
The Star Princess is a beautiful ship and even though it is for 2600 passengers,
we were never crowded. The only lines we encountered were getting on and off the
ship. We had a veranda and it was marvelous for the Alaska scenery. It also made
the room seem spacious.
This was our first trip with Princess. Good things will be said about this line,
but it will only be a review if I tell you about the things that we felt were
not up to par. The beds were very uncomfortable. We complained and they brought
us a foam egg crate which told us that others had complained or this product
would not have been available. The food was plentiful but quite average in
selection and quality. Our dining room service was friendly but not gracious.
Orders were confused and service was not always proper.
The shows were excellent and Michael Modzelewski, a journalist and
environmentalist, gave wonderful lectures and a running commentary of some of
the sights as we were seeing them.
This cruise attracted many young people and because of the nature of the tours,
everyone was quite casually dressed. We took the tours to Mendenhall Glacier and
to White Horse Pass. Both were excellent The ship went into Tracy Arms and no
other experience could top that for scenery.
We enjoyed the trip. If the reason for choosing this ship would be for the ports
and the tours I would recommend it. Will we go with Princess again? Probably not
for we have had better experiences that fit our needs at our ages.
