Enchantment of the Seas Cruise Review

Age: 58
Occupation: Business owner
Number of Cruises: 1
Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas
Sailing Date: April 16th, 2005
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

On April 16, 2005 my wife and I embarked on a five day cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas bound for Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman. After visiting Ocho Rios we were informed that the ship had starboard engine trouble and would have to bypass Grand Cayman and return to Port Everglades at a reduced rate of speed.

We were given a $200.00 shipboard credit for our troubles. Is this fair policy? Is there any course of action available to us? We and many others we talked to felt cheated. I am especially suspicious of this company’s action in light of the fact that while boarding at Port Everglades on the 16th I noticed that the starboard exhaust was heavy and black while the port exhaust was grayish and thin. I suspect that the Captain and the Chief Engineer were aware of an engine problem before leaving port.
