Beautiful ship and immaculately clean. Service was excellent. Cabin Steward was
accommodating and yet never visible. Entertainment was ok. Food in the main
dining room was lacking something and I can't exactly put my finger on it. ( I
WAS SEATED WITH A MAN WHO TOOK THE CRUISE ON THE "SISTER" SHIP( I think he said
it was The MARINER), and he agreed with my comment about the food . He thought
the food was better on The Mariner. I guess it was a combination of quality,
selection and seasoning. Food in the Cafeteria was more than adequate, taste was
good with a large selection.
Most disappointing thing was the fact that due to Hurricane Ivan our port stays
were cut short and the main attraction of Puerto Rico Port was totally skipped.
Now I realize that it was for our safety as well as the ship's and I have read
the policy of the Cruise line, but it was a big disappointment for my family. (
We booked 3 suites.) I had heard from some friends and also read about Royal
Caribbean giving concessions ,such as discounts on next cruise or ship
merchandize credits for other inconveniences to their passengers and yet even
after we asked , we were told that there were none offered to the passengers on
our cruise. IE: My doctor's cruise schedule with RCI was changed due to a
hurricane and he was offered a discount on his next cruise.
Seems to me that they have no rhyme or reason to their customer service
policies.
