Leaving from Bayonne, NJ is very interesting. If you drive to the port you prepay for parking, very savy. The bus ride to the ship after getting your seapass leaves a bit to be desired. However the sail out from Bayonne through the harbor is stunning with the Statute of Liberty in the foreground and the great city of New York over her shoulder. The ship is large but very nice you don't feel lost. It has a charm once you learn to negotiate the various floors. The cruise is pretty straight forward 2 days at sea sandwiched with 2 days at Kings Wharf in the island country of Bermuda. Excellent value for the money. We had a great time.

The food was a little below par. We have sailed with Royal Caribbean many times and as a group we were mystified as to the lack of effort from the kitchen. There was little or no imagination with the meals. The desserts were abysmal. Don't get me wrong the food was palatable just not what we expected from Royal Caribbean. One example was the Creme Bruele, it came out like vanilla pudding. the Breakfasts and lunches in the main dining room were very good. I went to the Windjammer twice and was pleased with the selections.

We had a balcony on the 9th deck very nice and the Stateroom attendant Laura was a sweetheart. She couldn't do enough for you. Bravo!

Typical Royal Caribbean fare lots of fun. The ship should be commended for their entertainers especially the singers on the Royal troupe FANTASTIC! We had a comedian/juggler that was out of this world.

In Bermuda the excursions are what they are, remember that they pull the sidewalks in at 5pm in Hamilton. Try all the excursions and enjoy the pink sand.

Overall the trip was a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. I could sail with the Explorer again only because of convienience (living in the metro area), the food needs attention it is hard to believe that this is the sister ship to the Mariner of the Seas. the food and waitstaff are 100 times better.
