We traveled on the Explorer of the Seas on October 22, 2011 for five nights to Bermuda. It was a GREAT cruise. This is our second time on the Explorer, we sailed in 2004 also. We traveled with Rich & Michele, who were on their 25th Wedding Anniversary. We had all had honeymooned in Bermuda. This was our third time, and Rich & Michele's second time in Bermuda. The Cruise Director Luke was fun. He seemed to be everywhere getting people involved and having fun.

Michael and Mo, our waiter and assistant waiter were fantastic! They greeted us warmly each evening, had recommendations for meals, spoke knowledgeably about the wine package, and entertained with tricks and stories. We had a great time each evening with them. The food was great, portions were good, and the desserts were delicious. One night, we went to Portofino for dinner. Service was excellent, and so was the food.

We went to the Windjammer each morning for breakfast except the last morning. The food was very good, and the omelet bar was exceptional. There was a great selection and the fruit was very fresh.

Johnny Rockets, as always was great. Our waiter was quick, friendly, and treated us to a dance to YMCA.

Our cabins were on the 10th floor, and we had a great balcony view. The Explorer is 11 years old, but shows its age very little. The carpeting and rooms were clean and new feeling, however, but we did have some paint peeling on our balcony.

Rica, our stateroom attendant couldn't have been better! She introduced herself the first day, and greeted us each day with a sunny smile.

The Band by the pool played great cruising music, and seemed to play longer than bands on previous cruises. The Promenade, with parades, bars, shops, pizza and snacks was great fun. We stopped to have drinks a couple nights, and often stopped for a mid-day snack at the Café Promenade. The Weekend Warrior bar was great although we were surprised that they were not showing the World Series during the cruise.

Rich and I had hoped to SCUBA dive, but the winds were too strong in the morning, so we went shopping with the girls in Hamilton. The ferry was very cool and a fast way to get around. We (of course) stopped at the Swizzle Inn (and Swaggered Out) for lunch, which was excellent. Then we walked over to the Caves for a tour of Crystal Cave, which was fun. We also went on the Glass Bottomed Cocktail Cruise excursion. The staff was great and made this an exceptional excursion; without them, it wouldn't have been as much fun.

We have to thank Jerry Rafter ( for booking the cruise and making everything easy.

Parking and drop off was exceptionally easy at Port Liberty; they do a great job . We dropped our bags, parked the car, toasted our cruise with champagne, and sailed through check-in and stopped on deck 12 for the sail away.

We have another cruise reserved with 4 other couples in April to the Eastern Caribbean on the Allure of the Seas, and will provide another update after that cruise.
